My ImagineIT work in February was a huge success. Students had choice over two different projects they engaged in centered around Black History Month. The first project was the ability to choose a lesser known African-American who the students were previously not familiar with and presenting to the class that person's accomplishments in any form they wanted. There were raps, computer based presentations, a funeral celebration, and many other creative ways of sharing the information they had learned with the rest of the class. The 2nd project of the month was centered around the people whose names represent the various schools in Chicago. The feedback on the previous projects was that students wanted to do it more independently, so I gave them the option of working with one partner or by themselves. Many worked with a partner and some more terrific presentations were created.
